This news is about the outrageous comments that Bolivia’s leader made about the excuses which justifies his country habits of chewing coca-leaf. A tradition which the country has embraced with the de-facto laws on coca-leaf that produces cocaine. The article continues with the events of his speech that he has made at the annual meeting of U.N Commission on Narcotic Drugs. This is a very newsworthy story for it shows a glimpse in the international effort to combat against illegal substance abuse with the developing laws of a country that is closes to the source of Cocaine Exports.
In my opinion, the title of the article is slightly
inaccurate for it was bias for it represents that the government of Bolivia
as approving such illegal activities of Cocaine Abuse. Though the author do
clear up the misconception by noting the details of their latest act of joining
the commission treaty on seeking to restrict the drug use to medical and scientifically
purpose only with exemption of coca-leaf chewing. The author does note that
this exemption was opposed by the United States of America but it was a fair
and just step made by the government to control these illegal substances
without causing a massive unrest in his coca-leaf chewing citizens.
The readers would have a mixed understanding on this
adequate article but most readers would definitely follow up on these stories
in order to know the progress of cleansing the globe from illegal drugs and its
unlawful activities of criminal aspects. http://www.nst.com.my/latest/bolivia-s-president-defends-coca-leaf-chewing-1.232966
